OUELLETTE, DEGANIS, GALLAGHER & GRIPPE, LLC represents people and businesses involved in litigation throughout Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts. Attorney Steven Ouellette started the Law Offices of Steven Ouellette in 1992, in Cheshire, Connecticut. Shortly after its inception Attorneys Karen Gallagher and Sergio Deganis joined the firm. In 1996, the partnership of Ouellette, Deganis & Gallagher was formed. Thereafter, in 2014, Attorney Joseph Grippe became a partner and the firm name was changed to Ouellette, Deganis, Gallagher & Grippe. Our firm has achieved successful results for its clients through both settlements and trials. We strive to serve our clients in an efficient and professional manner, with the dedication to detail that only a small firm can provide.
Our attorneys live in Cheshire, Bristol, Wolcott and New Britain and are involved in various community activities. Ouellette, Deganis, Gallagher & Grippe is the main sponsor of the Hot Coco 5K road race which supports Abilities without Boundaries. We are also proud to be one of the sponsors of the Cheshire Half Marathon which supports Abilities without Boundaries, Connecticut Best Buddies and the Cheshire Lions Club. These organizations are dedicated to helping children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities. Our firm also supports the Cheshire Baseball Team, UM Army and the YMCA Camp Sloper.
Steven A. Ouellette
Attorney Ouellette was born and raised in Vermont and is a graduate of Castleton State College in Castleton, Vermont. He received his law degree from Western New England College of Law in Springfield, Mass. After college, Attorney Ouellette began a long career in the insurance industry, beginning as a multi-line claims adjuster in 1975 in Rutland, Vermont and proceeding through progressive management positions responsible for litigation management in several states. He is an experienced trial attorney and frequently is requested to provide training sessions for the insurance industry in the areas of policy interpretation and negotiation.
He is an avid skier and a less than accomplished, but nevertheless enthusiastic, golfer. His professional interests are in the area of civil litigation, mediation and insurance coverage.

Sergio C. Deganis
Sergio Deganis is a partner with the firm of Ouellette, Deganis, Gallagher & Grippe LLC. He represents both Plaintiffs and Defendants involved with personal injury and commercial litigation. For over 30 years he has successfully represented clients in personal injury and property damage matters: motor vehicle accidents; dog bite and animal liability; breach of fiduciary duty; construction injuries and losses; legal malpractice; product liability; uninsured/underinsured claims; wrongful death matters; electrocutions, fires and burns; as well as insurance coverage. Sergio has tried many cases to resolution through jury trials, court trials, arbitrations and mediation proceedings. He is corporate counsel to several local companies. He successfully represented a Connecticut company in a complex breach of fiduciary duty matter where his client won a multi-million dollar verdict including all rights to Massachusetts based company.
Sergio is a court appointed Arbitrator and Special Master for the State of Connecticut. He is also frequently appointed as an arbitrator by private parties. He is admitted into the Massachusetts Bar; Connecticut Bar; U.S. District Court for District of Massachusetts; U.S. District Court for District of Connecticut; U.S. Court of Appeals, First Circuit; and, U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit; Connecticut Bar Association; and is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. He previously was the managing and senior trial attorney with DuBorg & Deganis, American International Group’s Counsel for Connecticut. In his initial legal position Sergio worked on behalf of General Electric Company nationwide. He was responsible in part for defending a wide variety of GE products and services.

Karen J.S. Gallagher
Karen Gallagher is a partner at Ouellette, Deganis , Gallagher & Grippe, LLC. She represents both plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation matters statewide, including personal injury litigation; motor vehicle accident cases, insurance defense work, uninsured/ underinsured motorist claims, and workers’ compensation claims. Prior to joining the firm, she worked as a trial attorney at the staff law office of the Hartford Insurance Company (Edward M. Henfey & Associates), and Serignese, Petrone and Zipfel. She also worked as the Assistant to Mayor of East Hartford. Karen is a skillful negotiator who strives to obtain the best results for her clients.
In addition to her legal career, along with her family, she runs Hunter Hill Alpacas, LLC, and an Alpaca Farm in Bristol. Her hands on experience in running her farm and passionate interest in animals has proven valuable asset in this field.
Attorney Gallagher is a graduate of Valparaiso University, and the University of Connecticut School of Law. She is admitted to the Connecticut Bar and the United States District Court District of Connecticut.

Joseph R. Grippe
Joseph R. Grippe is a partner with Ouellette, Deganis, Gallagher & Grippe LLC. He primarily practices in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice and commercial litigation. Mr. Grippe has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in litigation in Connecticut and New York. He has successfully tried multiple cases to verdict representing injured parties as well as defendants. In addition to his trial victories, he has a successful track record of resolving cases through mediation and pre-trial settlements.
Mr. Grippe has been named to the Connecticut SuperLawyers and New England Rising Stars (2012-2016) for Personal Injury as published by Superlawyers Magazine. Super Lawyers select only 2.5% of attorneys in New England that are 40 years old and under, or in practice for ten years or less, to receive the Rising Stars honor. See the following for details on the selection process. Mr. Grippe has also been selected as a New Leader of the Bar in 2016 by the Connecticut Law Tribune.
In 2003, Mr. Grippe graduated from the University at Albany with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. In 2006, Mr. Grippe graduated cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law. At Quinnipiac, Mr. Grippe received the distinguished academic achievement award in Trial Practice. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Grippe served as a judicial intern for a New York State Supreme Court Judge and was in intern at personal injury firm in New Haven, Connecticut.
Mr. Grippe is admitted to practice in State and Federal Court in Connecticut and New York. He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, New Haven County Bar Association, and New York State Bar Association.
Mr Grippe resides in Cheshire with his wife and two kids.
Steven J. Grant
Steven J. Grant is an associate practicing primarily in the area of Probate, personal injury, landlord tenant law and collections. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Grant worked as a Temporary Assistant Clerk for the Waterbury Superior Court in the Caseflow office with the Hon. Joseph H. Pellegrino and the Hon. Robert L. Holzberg, and during law school as a judicial intern for Judge Richard A. Damiani.
Mr. Grant graduated cum laude from the University of Connecticut in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He graduated from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 1997. At Quinnipiac, Mr. Grant received the Community Service Award.
Mr. Grant previously served as the President of the Connecticut Italian American Bar Association, and remains active with the organization. He serves as the Chairman of the Town of Wolcott’s Zoning Board of Appeals, where he resides with his wife and daughter.
Christopher Sica is an associate with the firm. He focuses on personal injury cases, civil defense litigation, commercial litigation and wrongful-death cases. He has successfully represented both plaintiffs and defendants in litigation and has secured numerous victories for his clients at trial. In addition to his trial victories, he has effectively resolved cases through mediation and pre-trial settlements.
Chris received his Bachelor of Science, in Finance, from the University of Connecticut in 2010, and received his Juris Doctorate from the University Of Connecticut School Of Law in 2014. While at Uconn Law, Chris was an Associate Editor for the Connecticut Public Interest Law Journal. He also participated with the UCONN Law AAJ Trial Team, competing at the Northeast Regional Trial Team Competition in Boston, Massachusetts.
Chris began working at the firm during his second year of law school. After graduating, Attorney Sica was excited to join the firm full time as an associate. He has a passion for trial work and advocating for his clients.
Grayson Colt Holmes
Grayson, who is known as “Colt”, is an associate with the firm. He focuses primarily on DUI and criminal defense, personal injury cases, and civil defense litigation.
Prior to joining the firm, Colt was a prosecutor at the Chief State’s Attorney’s office in Rocky Hill. There he prosecuted criminal and DUI cases in various court houses across the state and defended the Commissioner of Corrections in habeas actions.
Before his work as a prosecutor, Colt’s primary practice was DUI and criminal defense. He has tried several cases and has successfully defended hundreds of criminal defendants.
Colt is a graduate for the University of Georgia, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut Law School.
He is published as the author of “The New Employment Verification Act: the Functionality & Constitutionality of Biometrics in the Hiring Process,” 43 Conn. Law. 673 (2010) and has also served as a clerk to The Honorable Michael Sheldon.
